Compact Dagger™
Holster Compatibility Explained

This blog post from CYA Supply Co. does an excellent job illustrating and explaining the differences between the Compact Dagger™ frame and an OEM Glock G19 gen3 frame from the perspective of OEM Glock G19 holster compatibility,

Blog: PSA (Compact) Dagger Holster Compatibility

Two key differences are the trigger guard and accessory rail.

The majority of hard-sided holsters for the Glock 19 will not be compatible with the PSA Dagger Compact. Those that get their retention from an indention in the trigger guard especially.

The edge of the trigger guard on the 19 is more rounded and the trigger guards do not fit in the same envelope when the muzzles of the two firearms are aligned. It would be possible to make a holster to fit both but there would have to be some compromises in fit and retention.

The geometry of the trigger guard is different in the Dagger. In most cases, it will not allow the detent to seat properly. In the cases that it does, it is likely going to have rattle.

The accessory rail on the Dagger compact is in a different position relative to the Glock 19 Gen 3. This will break compatibility in most hard-sided holsters but not necessarily in soft-sided holsters.

The accessory rail is lower on the Dagger. In rigid molded holsters you can have less mass but not more. Just like a round peg of the right size will fit into a square hole but that square peg will not fit into the round hole.

A weaponlight attached to the Compact Dagger™ accessory rail hangs lower than a weaponlight attached to an OEM Glock G19 gen3 accessory rail. The distance between the top of the Compact Dagger™ slide and the bottom of the weaponlight is taller than the distance between the top of an OEM Glock G19 gen3 slide and the bottom of the same weaponlight making the fit with the same holster tighter. Refer to the area in the red circle and the distance between the red arrows in the two figures below.

The difference in the accessory rail also explains why weaponlights such as the SureFire X300U-A fit an OEM Glock G19 securely and fit the Compact Dagger™ poorly,

From the CYA Supply Co. blog post (with respect to the Compact Dagger ™ fitting a hard-sided OEM Glock G19 holster),

Although it may “fit” in some of these, it won’t fit properly which can be dangerous. We absolutely do not recommend using a hard-sided Glock 19 holster for your PSA Dagger.

A Kydex or Boltaron holster designed specifically for the PSA Dagger is the way to go. We strongly recommend going this route.

This is a list (in alphabetical order) of holsters specifically designed for the Compact Dagger™. In order for a holster to be considered specifically designed for the Compact Dagger™, the manufacturer’s product description must explicitly identify it as such.
